There are real reasons for poor diagnosis, medically, of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Fibromyalgia.  Think about what happens in chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia – medically there is often nothing outstanding in the blood tests, slight variations in iron levels, liver function, but nothing conclusive.  There may be a little rise in inflammatory signs, and yet medically this will be blamed on ‘fighting a bug’, ‘pain’ or ‘being tired.’

Anything that slows down metabolism, makes the blood supply sluggish, upsets the liver and digestive tract can be involved in chronic fatigue. Isn’t it time to start dealing with the reasons, one by one, and get your life back on track??

Here are various reasons for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia and what tests we do to confirm/deny this is a problem for you.

  • the body is too acidic (urine test)
  • the body is inflamed (live blood analysis and cellular analysis/VLA)
  • heavy metal toxicity (urine test)
  • candida (blood)
  • celiac (blood)
  • helicobacter (blood)
  • insulin resistance (blood)
  • low HDL cholesterol levels (blood)
  • fungal and mould spore infestations (blood & kinesiology)
  • allergies/intolerances (live blood analysis & kinesiology)
  • general toxicity (live blood analysis & cellular analysis/VLA)
  • tooth toxins/amalgams
  • scar tissue toxins
  • environmental allergens & intolerances (kinesiology)
  • endocrine issues – thyroid, adrenals, sex hormones (kinesiology)
  • adrenal stress (kinesiology/blood)
  • emotional stress/post traumatic stress syndrome
  • poor immune system (live blood analysis)
  • geopathic stress
  • electromagnetic stress (kinesiology)
  • viral and bacterial load (live blood analysis & urine test)
  • parasites (live blood analysis)
  • digestive issues and leaky gut syndrome (live blood analysis)
  • poor diet
  • smoking, drugs and alcohol

You can see why the one-reason-fits-all ’cause’ that they’re looking for medically doesn’t work.  In all of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia clients we see, there has been a combination of causes that we find through our various testing processes.

Our naturopaths, Jacqueline Dekoke ND, Linda Hoggard ND & myself, all have experience in dealing with these causes, can recommend treatments to help speed up the healing processes and will recommend lifestyle changes that ultimately will save your cells!

The digestive tract is the first out of four of our body’s major filters: the first of the Foundations of Health!

Would you have ever considered that chronic pain can be linked with poor digestion?  Well, let’s take a look at components withing the digestive tract and symptoms which are linked to pain:

  • parasites,
  • lack of good acids to break down foods,
  • small intestine bacterial overgrowth,
  • viral and bacterial particles,
  • undigested food particles.  All of these create ‘bad acids’ in the body

Symptoms of poor digestion are huge and include the obvious symptoms of:

  • bloating, burping, belching, wind, flatulence, diarrhoea, constipation
  • reflux and heartburn
  • allergies: eczema, dermatitiis, hayfever, sinusitis
  • chronic coughs
  • headaches and migraines
  • chronic  fatigue and fibromyalgia, just to name a few…

Just about any long term health condition is linked with poor digestion: think of bones and muscles - what are they made out of: we are what we eat, but moreso, we are what we digest!  So if we can’t break down our proteins and fats, we can’t repair our muscles and nerves.  If we can’t break down our veggies and fruit, we can’t utilise the nutrients and keep our cells clean and healthy.  Get the picture.  Digestion is everything.

It takes many months to cleanse the digestive tract properly…  Parasites, for example, can be everywhere:  the gut, the liver, the bloodstream - the more we have the longer it takes.  We can even have parasites in the brain and nervous systems, so it’s not something that can done quickly.  In fact, the killing off of parasites, the process itself needs to include natural anti-inflammatory substances and immune boosting substances since the membranes of the parasites release about 30x more toxins than the parasites themselves.

Parasites, fungus, candida and bacterial overgrowth can all take some time to cleanse, and then we start the process of healing the leaky gut.  Then we start to deal with the liver, once the gut is feeling strong enough to cope with the onslaught of toxins we’re about to release through the liver.

All in all it really does take 9-12 months of taking you step-by-step through the process…  but the digestive process itself takes about 3 months or so (although if the leaky gut has been long-term some gut support can be recommended long-term…)

Have you heard of SIBO??  Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth???  It’s been found that 80% of people with Fibromyalgia and 100% of people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome have SIBO.  It’s hard to detect medically and I find this statistic totally incredible.  It doesn’t surprise us at New Leaf since these clients generally require fairly big detoxification processes (gently and long-term).  The major filters of the body are nearly always exhausted (ph is too acidic, digestion not working, liver not filtering properly, and kidneys generally damaged…).  So get your gut checked out - it’s very easy to have candida, celiac, helicobacter & parasites checked for, and the process of ridding your body of these (NOT WITH DRUGS AS THIS CAUSES MORE ISSUES) will make a huge difference to your health, long term.
